Discuss why we landscape, the planning process, principles of design, design criteria, various stages in design development, the eIements needed in a landscape plan, cost estimating the design, and documenting the process. At the end of this class, have a better understanding of how to plan and create your own landscape design, what to look for in designs by others, and how to select a contractor. Florida Friendly Plants for Sarasota (1 session) NEW
Discuss the basic principles of Florida friendly landscaping, what plants need to gorw, how to research and select plants for our landscape, methods to efficiently maintain a landscape, and important laws that affect our efforts. Leave the class with a basic understanding of Florida fiendly landscaping, how your home affects the greater community and what you can do to help keep our environment healthy. Bring note taking material and a bag lunch. FEE FOR THIS CLASS IS NONREFUNDABLE.

Picture Framing & Matting, Beginning (5 sessions)
Students learn the techniques of mounting, matting, and framing photos, prints, paintings, needlework, and collectibles to display them proudly in a suitable setting. Guide to selection of material and use of professional tools and equipment are provided by the instructor. Tools, equipment, and material to construct two complete 8 x 10 picture frames are provided. Students must then bring frame and mat supplies for further projects of their own choosing. MATERIAL FEE OF $35 FOR THIS CLASS IS NONREFUNDABLE.

Picture Framing & Matting, Intermediate (5 sessions)
This class is designed for those who have taken the introductory course or who have instructor approval. Advanced students learn the techniques of various styles of mat cutting, including specialty corners, multiple matting, circles, ovals, V-grooves, inlays, and filets. Tools, equipment, and material to construct one complete wooden 11 x 14 picture frame are provided. Students must then bring frame and mat supplies for further projects of their own choosing. MATERIAL FEE OF $30 FOR THIS CLASS IS NONREFUNDABLE
